Kyoto Stories

€108.00

Found during a walk through Kyoto’s antique markets, these silk obi belts once carried the grace of ceremony and time. Handwoven from natural silk, each obi has been reimagined as two chabu — tea cloths that return to ritual in a new form.

An obi is a traditional Japanese sash worn with a kimono, often handwoven from silk and richly patterned. Each obi carries its own history, texture, and artistry, making it a unique textile in its own right.

Each piece carries its own rhythm of weave and motif, the softness of age, and the quiet luminosity of silk. No two are ever the same — one obi became two companions, similar in essence yet distinct in expression.

Woven for stillness, they invite attention and care at the tea table — a reminder of continuity between what has been and what is.

Each chabu carries its own history and previous life before finding a place on your tea table. Minor imperfections may remain from cleaning, and over time, your chabu will acquire subtle marks from your tea journey — a reflection of use, care, and lived experience.

Double-sided. The back side is plain without any motives. One of a kind. Natural silk, handwoven in Kyoto.
