Forest Floor – 森地 (Sēndì)

€108.00

“Where fallen leaves return to soil, and the forest dreams anew.”

Forest Floor is a cloth born of the deep earth — a meeting of tea leaves, rust, and time. The name speaks to the quiet place where life dissolves and begins again; where roots, moss, and shadow weave their slow alchemy beneath our feet.

This chabu is crafted from reclaimed antique cloth and hand-dyed with plants, tea and iron. The slow, patient dyeing process allows pigments to gradually penetrate the fibers, creating rich, earthy tones that evolve over time during the dyeing process.

Each chabu is unique: one side shows stronger, more vibrant color where the fabric had direct contact with the pigments, while the other side is softer and more subtle. The variation in color and texture means no two pieces are alike, as seen in the last image.

Perfect for layering with other chabu or as a grounding element on your tea table, Forest Floor invites presence, mindfulness, and a connection to the natural cycles of the forest. A living textile, it deepens in character with each use, quietly holding the essence of the earth.

Placed upon the tea table, Forest Floor grounds the space with its quiet gravity. It holds the scent of earth after rain, the breath of the woods, the echo of all that has returned home to soil.

A humble offering from the forest — to hold, to serve, to remember.
