Tea Ceremony to Welcome the Chinese New Year

at Alma Tea Gallery

Introduction

In the quiet space of Alma, where tea meets art and presence, we gather in the gentle light of early spring to honour the beginning of the Lunar New Year — a time of renewal, reflection, and quiet turning.

The Lunar New Year is more than a celebration; it is a natural pause between cycles. A moment to look back with gratitude, to release what is complete, and to meet the year ahead with clarity and intention.

Through the simple act of sharing tea, we create a space to slow down, to breathe more deeply, and to return to our own inner stillness.

Description of the Ceremony

The ceremony will last approximately 60–90 minutes.

Guests will be welcomed into a calm, intimate setting. After a short introduction, the tea will be prepared and served in silence and gentle attention.

The experience unfolds gradually:

• A moment to arrive and settle

• Mindful preparation of the tea

• Several bowls shared together

• Periods of quiet reflection

• A closing moment to gently return to the day

There is no need for prior knowledge of tea or meditation.

Only openness and presence are required.

What to Expect

This ceremony is an embodied experience — not a performance, but a shared moment of presence.

Together we will create space for:

• Slowing down and arriving fully in the present

• Reflecting on the year past with gentleness

• Opening to the year ahead with quiet intention

• Resting in calm awareness within a small circle

Tea, in its simplicity and depth, becomes a doorway to silence — a practice of attention and a way to honour the rhythm of new beginnings.

About Your Host

Yuliya has practised the path of tea for over twelve years within the tradition of Cha Dao.

For her, tea is not simply a drink, but a living practice — a doorway to presence, simplicity, and inner quiet.

Her approach to tea ceremony is intuitive and grounded. Rather than following rigid form, she allows each gathering to unfold naturally and spontaneously, guided by the people, the moment, and the tea itself.

Yuliya offers tea ceremonies as small sanctuaries in everyday life — spaces where people can slow down, listen more deeply, and reconnect with what is essential.
